Mom, Nana, Bedside RN, Charge RN, Death Doula, Learner of Things. Kate has always wanted to help people. Bedside Nursing is still a passion for her, and she loves being able to help on a 1:1 level, building relationships. She has practiced in 3 states. She has found that she can be a leader in this position too, and has been the Chair of her hospital’s Practice Council when it started. In 2010 she began a journey learning about Holistic Nursing, and that she had already been doing so much of what she was being taught. She found and joined the MnHNA and has loved finding “her people” here. In 2014, she became certified in Holistic Nursing. She has studied Healing Touch through 3-4 levels, and Reiki as well. In 2018, Kate learned about End of Life Doulas, and Death Cafes. Death has always fascinated her, and she has no problem talking with folks about it. She believes she has found her “retirement plan” with these things. She is certified through INELDA as and End of Life Doula, and has been leading Death Cafes since 2019. Now, in 2023, after attending two National AHNA conferences, she has accepted a spot on the Mn HNA leadership council. It will be an exciting time to be here as we anticipate the National Conference in Rochester in 2024.
